Parking Deck closure

The Multimodal Parking Deck is scheduled to be closed beginning at 6 a.m., Thursday, May 26, through Friday, May 27, for the annual power washing. The surface parking “B” lot adjacent to the parking deck will remain open.

Library hours for Memorial Day holiday

Rod Library hours for the Memorial Day holiday are posted on the library website. Patrons can check out materials and enter the building until 10 minutes to closing time, at which time service desks close and the doors are locked. Library online resources are available 24/7; if off campus, you will get a prompt to enter your CatID.

Janet Paul named director of dining services

Janet Paul has been named director of dining services. She will oversee residential dining, retail operations and catering services. She has more than 20 years of experience in university food service management as well as involvement in the National Association of College and University Food Service, including having served as both regional and national president of NACUFS. Paul will join UNI effective July 1.

Bender and Dancer exterior concrete work

Work began Monday, May 16, to remove and replace the sidewalk of the Bender and Dancer plaza. The project should be completed by July 1 and is not accessible during construction. Call 273-4400 or 273-3126 for more information.

Dell catalog available through iProcurement

The Dell catalog is now available through Oracle iProcurement for all Dell purchases. The catalog lists standard configurations approved by Information Technology Services in coordination with the Regent institutions. If you need help accessing the Dell catalog through iProcurement, contact Molly Ungs or call 273-6448. If you have laptop, desktop or monitor needs above and beyond these standard configurations, contact the Information Technology Services Computer Consulting Center at 273-5555 or via email at its-consult@uni.edu to start the request process. As of May 12, 2016, the stand-alone Dell premier website is no longer available for orders.

Bike to Work Week

Cedar Valley’s Bike to Work Week is May 16 to 20. In the spirit of this week, UNI Employee Well-being encourages employees to show us being active. Individuals that post a picture of themselves biking to work this week will be entered in a drawing for an incentive prize. Submissions should be added to the “Employee Well-being” Facebook page or emailed to Employee Well-being by Sunday, May 22; winners will be announced the following week.

Retirement reception for LaDene Bowen

The Institute for Decision Making (IDM) will host a retirement reception for LaDene Bowen from 3 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, on the second floor of the BCS building. Remarks will begin at 4 p.m.

Leisl Carr Childers, assistant professor of Public History and the American West, was awarded the the Spur Award in Contemporary Non-Fiction by the Western Writers of America. This is award is given to writers of any discipline for exceptional work on the American West or in the Western genre.

Doreen Hayek, special projects administrator in ITS Educational Technology, was recently awarded the 2015 Friend of Science Award at the ICTM-ISTS State Math & Science Conference. Hayek has a long history of working with various aspects of integrating STEM education into the preK-through-12 and higher education classrooms.

Coleen Wagner, former secretary in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, was honored for outstanding professional service with the Regents Excellence Award for Staff.

Libby Vanderwall, career services coordinator in the Office of Career Services, was honored for outstanding professional service with the Regents Excellence Award for Staff.

Amy Schipper, associate director of admissions and communications in the Office of Admissions, was honored for outstanding professional service with a Regents Excellence Award for Staff.
