UNI Hardwoods

UNI student Joshua Koppes founded UNI Hardwoods, a student organization that promotes sustainability through a variety of initiatives. One of those initiatives is the group's annual tree planting project, which replaces trees that were damaged by the 2008 floods or that are infected by the emerald ash borer.

'The Table And The Bedroom'

Alison Suen, lecturer in philosophy at Vanderbilt University and UNI alumna, will lecture on "The Table And The Bedroom: The Intersections Between Animal Ethics and Feminism," at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 17, in 115 SRL. Her lecture will explore the parallels between the exploitation of animals and the exploitation of women.

How to Make Sculpture of 4-Dimensional Things

The Hari Shankar Memorial Lecture series will present mathematician Henry Segerman from Oklahoma State University at 7:30 p.m., April 8, in 002 SAB. Segerman works mostly in 3-dimensional geometry and topology and in the medium of 3D printing.

COE 46th Elementary Literacy Conference

The 46th Elementary Literacy Conference will take place April 11. Keynote speakers will be Gary Kelley, local illustrator and UNI graduate, and J. Patrick Lewis, poet and prose writer. Their books will be available for purchase and signing throughout the day. The conference is free to UNI students and faculty. More information and registration are online.

Zero Waste Challenge

Watch the film "The Clean Bin Project" from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, in the Auditorium, CEEE. After the film, viewers can accept the challenge to live waste free for one month. Registration serves as an RSVP for the film and light dinner.
