National Student Exchange


Molly Rome, a UNI senior majoring in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)/Spanish, has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to Argentina for an English Teaching Assistantship.

The UNI National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Chapter earned National Gold Status. NSSLHA is the national organization for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication.

Rebecca Gronewold, a senior, received the Excellence of Scholarship Award from the National Council for Geographic Education. Award recipients will be honored during a ceremony held at the 2014 National Conference on Geography Education presented by the National Council for Geographic Education.

Three UNI graduating students have received the Lux Service Award for their exemplary service to the university: Daye Pope, a political communication major from Clear Lake; Kayla McCormick, an exercise science and sports psychology major from Caledonia, Minn.; and Ramya Varadaraju, a computer science major from India.

Auditions for 'Rent'

Theatre UNI will perform the musical "Rent" at the end of October. Show auditions will be at 6:30 p.m., in SWT, the first week of the fall semester. An audition workshop for students new to Theatre UNI will be Sunday, Aug. 23. Cold readings and monologues for those who have them will be Monday, Aug. 24. Music auditions for "Rent" begin Tuesday, Aug. 25. Audition details are posted online.

Panther Pick Up

Return keys to Physical Plant

UNI to host actor and activist Rob Lowe

Acclaimed actor Rob Lowe will speak at the GBPAC at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, as part of the Joy Cole Corning Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series. Admission to the lecture is free; tickets are required. Tickets will be available: Monday, Aug. 31 and Tuesday, Sept. 1 for UNI students only; Sept. 2 through Sept. 4 for students, faculty and staff; and Tuesday, Sept. 8 for the general public. Tickets will be available at all UNItix locations or by calling 273-7469.

Fall course: Acting for Life

The course Acting for Life uses acting tools to enrich the student's personal and professional life. Students will explore relaxation and concentration techniques and develop methods to increase self-awareness and empathy. THEATRE 1059 will be offered 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Tuesday/Thursday.
