Why did you choose UNI?
Because it’s just the right distance away from home and the size of the school made me feel real comfortable
What's the best thing about UNI?
The benefits that are available from the Academic Learning Center and the ability to talk to professors after class about your concerns.
What surprised you most about UNI?
There aren’t many minorities here nor are there any historically black Greeks on campus.
What kind of on-campus organizations/activities are you involved in? How does that involvement enrich your overall college experience?
I'm involved in Ethnic Student Promoters, Black Student Union and Black Males Leaders Union; being a part of these organizations makes me feel like I have a purpose for going to UNI and it’s makes me feel connected.
How has your academic experience been? Tell us about any great classes or professors that inspired or challenged you. Are you happy with your major choice?
So far, so good; overall my classes seem the same to me, but only a few teachers made an impact on me--Kay Weller and Annette Lynch--both made me feel real welcome and helped me out when I needed it. I’m real happy with my major choice because they’re guiding me to become the best that I can possibly be.
What do you like best about your major?
The hands-on way of learning and the teachers, who knows the ins and outs of the fashion industry.
What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The Union because that’s where I gather with my friends to discuss how we feel and what’s going on in our lives.
What advice would you give high school students getting ready for college?
Develop good study habits because you will definitely need them in college!
Years from now, what will you remember most about UNI?
The faculty that helped me out when I was struggling.
Has the Financial Aid office helped you with your college education? If so, in what ways?
Yes to a certain degree by providing me with financial aid so that I will be able to go to classes. Juanita has found ways to help me out whether it’s talking about money problems or just finding new scholarships for which to apply.
What do you plan to do with your UNI education?
Hopefully work at a big shoe company such as Nike or Adidas designing new components and from there open my own business where I can release my own line of sneakers and clothing
