Tallgrass Prairie Center

Overview: 

The Tallgrass Prairie Center's mission is to restore native vegetation for the benefit of society and environment through research, education, and technology. The Center is located on west campus at 2412 West 27th Street.  Primary programs at the Center are (1) Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) to assist Iowa counties in implementing IRVM programs utilizing native vegetation; (2) Prairie Research and Restoration to conduct research and provide consultation on prairie reconstruction, restoration, and management; (3) Natural Selections Seed develops regionally adapted Iowa Source Identified foundation seed to increase availability of native seed for prairie projects; and (4) Prairie Power Project research to determine optimal mixture of prairie species for burning for electrical generation and providing wildlife habitat.
