Elevate & Inspire: The Youds Challenge

Eileen Youds

Eileen ('80 Mathematics and Chemistry) and Bob ('80 Industrial Technology) Youds will tell you that their UNI experience helped form the solid base from which they launched successful and fulfilling careers. Eileen has been a member of the college advisory board and they both currently serve on the UNI Foundation's Imagine the Impact National Steering Committee. Currently an Engineering Manager of Design Automation with Medtronic in Minneapolis, Bob's career has included commercial, industrial and defense industries.   Eileen's career path has included significant global leadership roles for companies such as Honeywell, Kelly Services, Ceridian, and Pearson.  Currently she is COO – Shared Services for Walser Automotive Group in Minneapolis.  She has been recognized for her marketing initiatives, innovative approaches to problem solving and ability to lead high performance teams at the global level.

The Youds want UNI students to share the same kind of success story they have, and they know that support from UNI alumni and friends is vital for student achievement. An important part of that support comes from the CHAS Dean's Fund for Excellence, which provides our students with opportunities they might not otherwise have.

"Bob and I are very positive about the outstanding experience we had at UNI. We feel it's important to include the Dean's Fund in our annual support, and are happy to be able to offer our energies to encourage others to as well," says Eileen. "The Dean's Fund helps student gain professional, social and cultural experiences that are vital for success in the business world, but those are things that can often go unfunded in today's challenging economic times. The Dean's Fund gives students opportunities for real research experience, can help with living expenses when they take unpaid internships, or help fund a professional presentation or study abroad. Those experiences are why employers seek out UNI grads and why UNI grads are valuable members of their communities."

Because they feel so strongly that students have all the opportunities to excel that UNI can offer, Bob and Eileen have made a pledge to the CHAS Dean's Fund for Excellence and ask you join them. They offer you a challenge: if you upgrade your gift from last year, Bob and Eileen will match your upgrade dollar for dollar up to $15,000. We're calling it the Youds Challenge, Elevate to Educate.
