Each session, new CIEP students participate in a three-day orientation process. This process includes a variety of informational sessions, campus tours, and opportunities to meet other CIEP students and staff. Arrival Information:
One month prior to your arrival, please complete the CIEP Arrival Information Form. If you applied online, you will be sent this form automatically. If you completed the CIEP Application on paper, you will need to complete the Arrival Information Form Online
*Please note: Students who arrive late may not be able to begin classes on time. All classes missed due to not completing the orientation program on time will affect the student's attendance and probation status. For more information about the CIEP Attendence and Probation Policy, please see Appendix F of the CIEP Student Handbook.
CIEP Student Handbook Review
During this session, one of the CIEP teaching staff members will review with the CIEP academic policies and procedures for students enrolled in the program. Click here to view the CIEP Student Handbook Review Presentation.
Internet Resources & Services Session
In this session, students will learn how to open UNI e-mail accounts, utilize the My Universe student computer information system, find a job and pay U-Bills. Click here to view the CIEP Internet Resources & Services Presentation.
Information Session with the CIEP Director
The CIEP Director will review important information about life at UNI and discuss the essential information that CIEP students must have before beginning to study. Students will learn about immigration and employment regulations, tax responsibilities, and living safely in Iowa. American culture and customs will also be discussed. 6 Habits of Highly Effective International Students

Safe Behavior Management
In this session, a staff member from UNI Wellness & Recreation will highlight some policies and rules related to healthy and safe student lifestyles on campus. Click here to view the presentation.
Orientation Survey
At the end of each orientation, students will complete the orientation survey.
