Bill and Adele Myers scholarships encourage and inspire student employees

Bill and Adele Myers continue to have a positive influence on the lives of UNI students who are part-time employees in dining services.  The Myers’ endowed scholarship encourages and inspires students who are majoring in management, marketing, management information systems or other major related to the food service industry.
$16,000 worth of scholarships will be allocated to the financial aid package for 2014-15 recipients:
Sydney Wilkins-Rialto
Cory Huegel-Rialto
Patricia Zubrod-Prexy's
Allyson Lappe-Piazza
Katie Titus-Rialto
Chasity Ballew-Piazza

Bill Myers began his college career at UNI where he played football and worked as a student employee in Commons dining; his duties at the Commons included baking pies at 5 a.m.  He finished his degree at University of Illinois before launching his career in college dining services, a career path that lead to the Dining Director position at Stanford University.  He returned to the Midwest and founded a company to manage Arby’s franchises.
‘This scholarship award is a memorable experience for the students who receive it,” said Carol Petersen, Director of Dining Services. “The Myers were generous with their financial gift and with their time.”  The Myers have previously accepted an invitation to visit campus and meet the students and Petersen hopes to give 2014-15 scholarship recipients the same advantage.  “That meeting introduces students to their benefactors who represent rewards of hard work, risk taking and generosity,” Petersen added.
