Dining research used to improve service, location and product mix

UNI Dining Services staff and customers are cooperating with Bakergroup consulting to evaluate how current campus dining retail and catering can be improved to increase satisfaction with service, selection and location.  The research includes focus groups, interviews, surveys and extensive analysis of campus data. 

Carol Petersen, Director of Dining Services, said, "New campus housing options, new meal plan options and enrollment trends each affect decisions about product mix, hours, service levels and location.  This evaluation will help us optimize staff and other resources to best serve the campus community with catering, restaurants, convenience stores, food carts, a food court, coffee shops and more."

Customers at Biscotti's in Redeker Center, 23rd Street Market at Commons and Maucker Union Restaurants will be invited to complete a short questionnaire on paper or online.  The consultants will use the information gained from focus groups, interviews and the brief survey to design an electronic survey to be distributed later this semester.
"The Bakergroup has been a design and consulting partner of successful dining projects at UNI," said Petersen.  "They bring the advantage of familiarity with our campus which has made an aggressive research schedule possible."
