ALTERNATIVES CRISIS PREGNANCY & PREVENTION CENTER
Alternatives is a non-profit agency, which offers free pregnancy testing, as well as peer counseling, information on fetal development and support for parenting, adoption, and post abortion stress. The Caring Connection program offers mentoring and material support for women who are pregnant or have an infant less than 12 months of age. All services are FREE. Call for more information.

HAVE A HEALTHY BABY PROGRAM
Have a Healthy Baby Program, sponsored by the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, offers prenatal education and support for pregnant teens and young women ages 12-24. Program is presented in a small group setting that encourages peer interaction. The program is also available to individuals in their homes. Stork’s Nest points may be earned. The focus of the program is to help pregnant teens and young
adults deal with daily nutritional and lifestyle choices that affect the baby’s health, such as drugs, alcohol, and smoking. This program is also available to Bosnian and Spanish audiences.

STORK'S NEST PROGRAM
The mission of the Stork's Nest Program, a community based initiative, is to unite, educate and support families to help improve maternal and infant health. Participants earn points for healthy behaviors such as receiving medical services and attending educational classes. Points are then used to “purchase” infant products at the Stork’s Nest Store. Sponsored by Operation Threshold.

ELIGIBILITY: Income guidelines based on 185% of poverty level or those eligible for

YOUNG PARENTS TOGETHER- YOUNG MOMS, DADS & COUPLES
For young moms or dads, through age 19, who are currently pregnant or are parenting a child under age 4. Prenatal and childbirth preparation classes are offered, as well as classes to encourage the development of positive parenting skills. A wide array of subjects is addressed to insure the health and well being of participants and their children. Program goals include preventing subsequent pregnancies among participants, providing emotional support to teen parents, and strengthening young families. Offered by a collaboration of nine community agencies.

HOPES HEALTHY FAMILIES OF IOWA
The HOPES - Healthy Families Iowa Program, sponsored by Lutheran Services in Iowa, is a home visitation program aimed at empowering families and helping parents promote healthy outcomes for their children. Services are offered in the families’ home and can include transportation to medical and other necessary appointments.

PARENT TO PARENT
“Parent to Parent” is an in-home support program for parents of newborns. Trained, experienced volunteers meet with new parents in their home approximately one hour each week until the baby is three months old. Volunteers provide emotional support, parenting education, and information on community resources. Training for new volunteers is held two or three times each year. This program serves families of all cultures.

PROJECT HAND-IN-HAND-EARLY HEAD START
Project Hand-in-Hand offers comprehensive child development services to families with children prenatal through age 3. Hand-in-Hand is an Early Head Start Program that offers center-based care as well as a home-based program enabling children and families to learn together. Support services include: health, dental, nutrition, education, social services, as well as strong emphasis on parent involvement and parents as their child’s first and best teacher.

PARENTS ACHIEVING SUCCESS WITH SUPPORT (P.A.S.S.)
Being a young parent isn’t easy. Sometimes it’s nice to talk to someone who has “been there.” P.A.S.S. is here to help. This program is for young parents between the ages of 20 and 25. This program offers an opportunity for young parents to come together and discuss issues affecting their families, including parenting, finances, continuing education, and employment.
