Alumni Homecoming Events
UNI is bringing one of its treasured traditions, the Homecoming Parade, back to campus on Sept. 20, 2014! The parade is a great way to bring together the university and its alumni and community to celebrate the past, present and future of UNI. If you’d like to participate in this year’s parade, please fill out the forms noted below and submit by Sept. 5, 2014. Parade Entry Mandatory Meeting will be Sept. 10th at 7pm in the Curris Business Building Room 109! Please contact Connie Hansen at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.

Entry Description/Emcee Information (all participants must fill out this form)
Supplies that will be provided and available to student organizations building floats: tag board, zip ties, painter’s tape, cardboard, TempraPaint, foam paint brushes, scissors, tape measure, yard stick, string, staple guns and duct tape (for cardboard), paper rotary rack (20 rolls), permanent markers, wire cutters, rubber cement, markers, exacto knife and blades, plastic tarps.
Supplies that student organizations may want to bring: streamers, chicken wire, tissue paper, colored napkins, fringe, pipe cleaners, battery operated lights, wrapping paper, yarn, balloons, foil, stencils, floral, garland.
NOTE: Duct tape cannot be used to tape anything to the golf carts. No painting the actual golf cart. Items can be pre-painted and attached to cart.
Standard two-seat golf cart dimensions: length = 94.5" / width = 47" / height = 45.7" / height with canopy/suntop = 68.5"
Homecoming Office Decorating Competition
When: Homecoming Week, Sept. 15-21
Where: Your Office
Who: Any Campus Office
Why: Bragging rights and lunch for best overall decorated office, most spirited office and most creative office.
Details: Judges will review all registered offices on Wednesday, Sept. 17, between 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Offices will be judged on creativity; utilization of the theme, “Students by day, Panthers by night;” originality; construction and spirit. Office decorating can range from individual offices, to front desk/reception areas to the entire office space. Homecoming Royalty is a University of Northern Iowa tradition that was revived in 2012. The Royalty application and selection process is a great opportunity to showcase a few of the many outstanding students at UNI. The Homecoming Royalty Court is comprised of five Queen Candidates and five King Candidates. Throughout the week the candidates will participate in various Homecoming events. The candidates will be chosen through an application and selection process and will be announced Monday evening at the Kickoff. The King and Queen will be announced at the Pep Rally on Friday night of Homecoming Week.
Please note that the Homecoming Royalty selection process is not a beauty pageant or a popularity contest. Applicants are not advantaged or disadvantaged by applying or being nominated. Royalty will be screened and ultimately selected based on the applicants’ ability to articulate and demonstrate academic performance, curricular and co-curricular involvement, contributions to the University community and school spirit.
- Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student
- Must be in good standing with the University
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Must commit to participating in select Homecoming Activities and abide to the deadlines outlined below
Royalty Selection Process
- Friday, September 5th 2014 – noon
- Applications must be submitted electronically. Failure to meet the GPA requirement will result in disqualification.
- Monday, September 8th, 2014 – 5pm
- Selection of finalists. The selection committee will decide finalists by 5pm
- Wednesday, September 10th, 2014 – 6pm State College Room
- Mandatory informational meeting for all selected Homecoming Royalty Candidates
- Monday, September 15th, 2014 – 5:00pm
- Homecoming Kickoff – Homecoming Court will be announced to the general public
- Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 – 8pm
- Homecoming Royalty Talent Competition
- Friday, September 19th, 2014 – 9:30pm
- Homecoming King and Queen announced at Pep Rally
- Saturday, September 20th, 2014 11am-1pm
- Homecoming Parade. Homecoming King and Queen will be present to greet students and ride in the Parade
