Preparing keys for scoring
The Name Section, the Identification Number or Special Codes areas of the scan sheet is reserved for:
Name section: Instructor’s name
Identification Number: ITS coding for scanner processing
Special Codes: ITS coding for scanner processing
It would be beneficial to the scanning process if each instructor fills in the bubbles spelling his/her last name in the Name Section of your key.
Make sure you erase unwanted marks completely. This will ensure the question will be eliminated. Once your key is completed and you are unable to get a clear erasure it is a better choice to make a new key.
1. If an item on the key is left blank, no student sheet will get credit for the blank item, i.e., all students will get that item *wrong*. It doesn't matter if the student answered the blank item or not, they won't get credit for the item.
2. If an item on the key is multi-marked, every student sheet will get credit for the multi-marked item. It doesn't matter if the student answered the multi-marked item or left it blank, they'll get credit for the item.
3. On your printout the profile of responses lists each question and the item coded on the answer key. The "number possible" is the number of the last item from the key, so it *includes* the blank item unless the blank item was the last item on the test.
Instructor Grade Book: ITS has a system which allows student scores on classroom examinations to be entered automatically into a grade book system and sent to you via email as a .csv file. If you are interested in this service, please contact Ken Connelly for instructions at 273-5850.
Tests received by noon Monday – Friday will be processed and ready at 3:00 p.m. the same day. Tests turned in after noon will be available at 3:00 p.m. the following work day. Tests submitted after noon on Friday will be available after 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
