Morgan Horning, soprano, holds a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Music from Luther College, a Master of Music Degree and Artist Diploma from the University of Northern Iowa, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Shenandoah University Conservatory. While at Luther, she performed as Edith in The Pirates of Penzance, and in scenes as Gretel  (Hänsel und Gretel), Antonia (Les contes d’Hoffmann), and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte).  As a student at the University of Northern Iowa, Ms. Horning sang the roles of Cate in the premiere of The Chosen, Olympia in Prima Donna, and Adele in Die Fledermaus, while performing in scenes as Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor), Frasquita (Carmen), Amor (Orfeo ed Euridice), Echo (Ariadne auf Naxos), Servilia (La clemenza de Tito), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), and Alexandra (Regina).  She was most recently seen at the Shenandoah Conservatory as Countess Almaviva in the second act of Le nozze di Figaro, and as a featured soloist on An Evening with William Bolcom, with the composer at the piano. An avid recitalist, Ms. Horning has made it her artistic mission to explore works of underrepresented composers, with special emphasis on Czech and Russian opera and song literature. She is currently an adjunct instructor of voice at the University of Northern Iowa.
