CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Small-business owners, those interested in starting a business and Cedar Valley community member are invited to attend the Small Business Expo from 5 to 7 p.m., Oct. 4, at the George Washington Carver Academy School, 1505 Logan Ave. in Waterloo. Admission is free.
The Small Business Expo is a networking event for Cedar Valley entrepreneurs and community members with the added opportunity for small-business owners and entrepreneurs to gather information important to their businesses or start-ups. Attendees can speak directly to University of Northern Iowa business advisers, who can provide information and referrals for assistance with obtaining financing, increasing sales, doing business on the Web, performing market research and other business services. Community members can attend and visit local Cedar Valley businesses.
"The Business Expo is the one time of year when Consolidated Urban Revitalization Area small-business owners are held up and celebrated for the good work they do. Hundreds of them are home-based operations and don't interact on a daily basis with the community. At the expo, we have the opportunity to meet them, learn about all the unique businesses here in the district and build relationships that last throughout the year. It's not an event to miss," said Maureen Collins-Williams, director of the UNI Regional Business Center. "We will have UNI business experts on hand at this year's expo, and we welcome new faces, as well as those who've attended previous MyEntre.Net events."
The Small Business Expo is hosted by Waterloo Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation, UNI Regional Business Center, MyEntre.Net, UNI Institute for Decision Making, Renew Waterloo, Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance and Chamber and the UNI Public Policy Program.
The Small Business Expo is one of many events and services hosted through MyEntre.Net. For more information, contact the UNI Regional Business Center at 319-273-4328.
