CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa will host events and activities for students, parents and family members of all ages during Family Weekend, Friday to Sunday, Sept. 6 to 8.
The weekend will kick off with the UNI vs. Nebraska-Omaha soccer game at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at the Cedar Valley Youth Soccer Complex.
On Saturday, the Family Feast Tailgate will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Rialto Dining Center. Afterward, families can head to the Maucker Union to watch the Dean of Juggling perform at 1:30 p.m. The show features Dean Franzen, a mathematics professor at UNI.
Also on Saturday, the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences will present a chemistry magic show in Lantz Auditorium, McCollum Science Hall. This popular show will be held at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. There will also be mini-sumo robotics and "super cold physics" demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Begeman Hall, Room 114. Later, families can venture to the UNI-Dome where the Panthers will take on the Drake Bulldogs at 4 p.m.
Throughout the weekend, various programs, academic colleges and departments will also host activities, open houses and special tours for students and their families.
