CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Green Iowa AmeriCorps (GIA) is hosting a 5k Fun Run at 9 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 24. The run will begin at the University of Northern Iowa's Center for Energy & Environmental Education (CEEE) and will take runners on a course through UNI's South Campus Preserve's trails.

Runners are encouraged to wear green attire to support GIA efforts to make Iowa more energy efficient. A prize will be given to the runner with the most creative green outfit. The first 40 registered participants will receive a UNI reusable water bottle along with a variety of other prizes awarded upon completion of the race.

GIA is a non-profit organization based out of the CEEE. GIA's mission is to make Iowans more energy efficient through low impact home weatherization, energy education and community outreach.

A $15 donation to GIA is required as a registration fee. Proceeds will benefit GIA's work in the Cedar Valley.
