CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Registration is now open for the three-day training program "Project Management: Working with People," hosted by the University of Northern Iowa Executive Development Center. The training takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 18-20, in the Business and Community Services Building on the UNI campus. The registration deadline is June 4.
This course provides insights into working with the most complex aspect of any project: people.
"Project managers generally have a lot of responsibility but not necessarily much authority, and they deal with many stakeholders -- from their bosses to clients to people in technology and design," said Kim Recker, program manager for the UNI Executive Development Center. "The way a project manager handles diverse personalities can affect the project's success or failure."
Participants will focus on creating a management plan for the people aspect of a project, including staffing, individual and team development, management, leadership, accountability, teams, meetings and understanding context.
The cost is $995 for three days of instruction plus $300 for class materials, professional development units, lunches, refreshments and parking. Completion of the course earns 18 professional development units that can be used to earn a Project Management designation from the Project Management Institute.
