CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Since October 2012, the Iowa Waste Reduction Center has worked on developing a waste reduction project specific to food waste. At the forefront of that project are Dan Nickey, senior program manager, and Jennifer Trent, program assistant. Both will be feature presenters at an upcoming event in July.
"Wasted: Feed the Folks, Starve the Landfills" will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, July 12, on the University of Northern Iowa campus. Nickey will focus on the multiple facets of the food waste problem, while Trent will share the resources provided by the Iowa Food Waste Reduction Project. In addition, the event, held in partnership with the Iowa Food Systems Council, will also include a panel discussion on reduction strategies, a public policy discussion, networking and tours.
