UNI professor to present lecture on memory, place and identity

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- University of Northern Iowa associate professor of communication studies Francesca Soans will present her lecture, "Documentary Memory, Place and Identity: Sons of Jacob Synagogue," from noon to 1 p.m., Monday, March 4, in UNI's Center for Multicultural Education, Room 109A.

The lecture will include a screening and discussion of excerpts from the documentary "Sons of Jacob Synagogue," directed by Soans and Robert Neymeyer, that explores the history of the Jewish community in Waterloo, Iowa, and examines the complex connections between memory, community and place.

The lecture is a part of the Current Research on Women and Gender Forum (CROW), a lecture series sponsored by UNI's Women's and Gender Studies Program.
