UNI Spotlight Series presents the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The Northern Iowan Symphony Orchestra will present its pre-Brazil performance at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Great Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC) on the UNI campus. The concert is offered as a part of the UNI School of Music Spotlight Series.

Manfredo Schmiedt, conductor of the Orquestra Sinfônica Caxias do Sul in Brazil, will guest conduct works from Brazilian composers Gomes and Villa Lobos. During Schmiedt's visit, he will rehearse the orchestra on Mahler's "Symphony No. 1," which the group will perform during its tour of Brazil in March.
