UNI to host 44th annual Reading Recovery Conference

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa’s Malcolm Price Laboratory School (MPLS) and the Reading Recovery Center of Iowa will host the 44th annual Elementary Literacy & Reading Recovery Conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday, April 20, at the Schindler Education Center on UNI's campus. A pre-conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 19, at Maucker Union.

The presenter for the pre-conference will be Mary Rosser, director of the University Training Center for Reading Recovery of Literacy Professional Development Programs at the University of Maine. She is an expert in language education, curriculum development and early literacy intervention.

The keynote speaker for the conference will be Sarah Weeks, acclaimed children's writer. Weeks has been writing children's picture books and novels for 25 years, and is currently a faculty member in the writing program at the New School University in New York City.

Registration to attend the Pre-Conference Institute is $90, the Elementary Literacy Conference is $90 and the Reading Recovery Conference for both days is $180. For additional information or to register, visit www.vpaf.uni.edu/events/brc.
