CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa's Center for Energy and Environmental Education (CEEE) is expanding its Farm to School initiative by hiring a new coordinator for its Farm to School program. Jacque Bilyeu-Holmes, an experienced food service director, will now lead the center's program.

The CEEE's Farm to School initiative is dedicated to working with school districts to incorporate fresh fruits, vegetables and minimally processed foods into kids' diets, and at the same time invest in local economies and farmers. Interested school districts are encouraged to contact CEEE.

Two Food Corps service members will also join the CEEE to help with the Farm to School initiative. Food Corps is a nationwide effort, which sends service members into communities with limited resources to help kids eat healthier foods. These service members will be working in the Waterloo Community School District and will be addressing early childhood nutrition education, healthy and local food choices and school gardens.
