CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Registration is now open for the 2012 Leadership Development Certificate Program, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa's Executive Development Center. The program, designed for experienced managers who want to move into senior leadership positions, consists of nine sessions, beginning Aug. 22 and ending Nov. 28. Each session is held in the Business and Community Services Building, Room 30, on the UNI campus.
Participants are challenged to change from thinking like a manager to thinking like a strategic leader. They come from a variety of backgrounds and industries and will benefit from interactive sessions on topics such as strategic planning, big-picture decision making, finance for leaders and proactive change management.
According to Kim Recker, program manager for UNI's Executive Development Center, "A recent survey showed that more than 92 percent of past participants noted the program improved their job performance, and 95 percent stated the program increased their confidence in their leadership ability."
Four hours of graduate or undergraduate credit is available upon completion of the program.
Tuition is $3,150, and includes all training materials, meals, refreshments and parking. If a business purchases an enrollment for one person, a second person from that business can enroll for $2,150. Tuition for non-profit employees is $2,150. UNI Alumni Association members receive a 10-percent discount. This program also qualifies for most tuition reimbursement programs and Iowa Jobs Training Programs 260E and 260F.
The enrollment deadline for the program is Aug. 10. Early enrollment is encouraged, as class size is limited to 20 participants. To enroll or for more information, contact UNI's Executive Development Center at 319-273-5851 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit www.bcs.uni.edu/execdev.
