Klafter named UNI associate provost for International Programs

Craig Evan Klafter, DPhil., former Pro Vice-Chancellor (External Relations) at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, England, has been named associate provost for International Programs at the University of Northern Iowa. His appointment is effective July 5.

"I'm excited to welcome Craig to UNI," said UNI Executive Vice President and Provost Gloria Gibson. "He brings a wealth of experience that will help us achieve our goals related to internationalization."

Klafter also will have an academic appointment as associate professor in the Department of History. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in history from the University of Chicago; and a DPhil. in history from the University of Oxford, Oxford, England.

Klafter replaces Kurt Meredith, who served as interim assistant provost for International Programs since 2008. Meredith will return to his position as an associate professor of Curriculum & Instruction.
