Cardio Classes

Cardio HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) - 50 min. NEW!

High Intensity Interval Training (HITT) is an interval-based training technique that uses relatively short, intense cardiovascular bursts alternated with less intense recovery intervals. This is a great class to pull you out of a cardio rut and improve your aerobic power and endurance.

Cycle Blast - 50 min.

Feel motivated by the energy of this class as you blast calories and build endurance. Indoor cycling is an exciting, low-impact option when you want a high-level cardio workout. Experience a ride full of hills, sprints, and endurance intervals with energizing music and a motivating instructor. Cycle Blast will enhance your strength, stamina, and improve your overall physical health regardless of your fitness level! Towel and water bottle required.

Cycle and Core - 60 mins. - NEW!

This class uses your time wisely for a complete full-body workout. Thirty minutes of cycling and thirty minutes of core (abs, glutes, upper body) training. Use a variety of equipment for toning to ensure a challenging, never boring, get lean workout. Instructor will utilize TRX bands, indoor cycling bikes, BOSU balls, stability balls, and more. It’s functional training at its best!

Tai Chi - 50 min. NEW!

Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction and joint pain relief. Often described as ”meditation in motion,” Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements and is accompanied by deep breathing. Running Club (FASTR) - UNI Faculty & Staff Team Running Club

This club is designed for UNI employees and their families who like to run. The group meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 am and Saturdays at 7:00 am. You don’t have to run fast or go far; just join the camaraderie of other runners whatever your pace. Join the group for one day or all three. Intuitive Eating Workshop

Intuitive Eating is an approach that teaches you how to create a healthy relationship with your food, mind, and body. You will learn how to distinguish between physical and emotional feelings and gain a sense of body wisdom as you reject the diet mentality. Intuitive Eating is rooted in 10 basic principles that invite you to a world of pleasurable yet healthy eating and a sense of freedom that can be exhilarating! Kids’ Zumba® - 45 min.

The Kids’ Zumba© program is the ultimate dance fitness party for young Zumba© fans ages 7-11, where they can play it loud and rock with friends to their own rules! This program features age-appropriate music and moves that get kids movin’ to the beat. It’s all about feeling fearless on the dance floor, reinforcing the idea that it’s okay to just be yourself and dance like no one’s watching! Kids only, no parents please. FEE: $30/session.

Instructor Training

Land Aerobics Instructor Training

This course covers all aspects of teaching kickboxing, boot camp, interval training, strength conditioning, and indoor cycling. Participants must be current UNI students and commit to teaching at least 3 semesters after training is complete.

Yoga Instructor Certification

This informative workshop gives you the tools to create vinyasa yoga classes. The training includes physical execution, pose breakdowns, transitions, and leadership skills with emphasis on effectiveness and safety. If you are interested in teaching yoga, this training is a good place to start. Certification awarded upon successful completion. Open to the public.

Strength, Toning and Core Instructor Training

Learn how to teach a strength and toning-based group exercise class as well as basic anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of the body. Learn how to plan, organize and set up a safe and effective full body workout. Instructor will take you through a variety of exercise equipment such as basic dumbbells, stability ball, medicine balls, BOSU, resistance bands and more. Text included. Class limited to 15.
