Save the date for the Welcome Back Picnic

The Welcome Back Picnic for UNI faculty, staff and families will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28, on the south lawn of the president's house and will feature food, games and fun!

Return keys to Physical Plant

All keys checked out to faculty, staff and students need to be returned to the Physical Plant before leaving the university. Physical Plant hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, call 273-4400.

Faculty 12-month pay option

Faculty may be paid for their continuing non-temporary academic year appointment in 10 or 12 equal installments beginning with the Aug. 29 or July 31 payroll, respectively. Faculty members must complete a Pay Frequency Change form to change their salary payments. Send the form to OBO-Payroll, mail code 0008, by May 15. Graduate student Commencement moved to McLeod

Due to the number of graduate students indicating they plan to participate in the spring Commencement ceremony, the venue has been moved to the McLeod Center. Help welcome students and families to campus

Volunteers are needed for fall move-in. Duties include greeting students and families, carrying their belongings and providing general assistance. A two-hour commitment is required during one (or more) of the following shifts: 8 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Aug. 17; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21

QUASH on Friday!

The Quest to Unravel Alzheimer's Scavenger Hunt (QUASH) involves teams of two to four participants who complete a scavenger hunt around UNI's campus Friday, April 25. All proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer's Association. For more information, visit the QUASH website.

UNI Museum display – The Sacred and The Secular

The Sacred and The Secular exhibit examines the multiple roles that art plays in African cultures. This free exhibit will explore how the African objects in the UNI Museum's collection are used by their original culture while also looking at parallels in our own society. This display is on the first floor of the Rod Library now through Sept. 28.

PSE will host a UNI student garage sale

A UNI student garage sale will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 3, in the Gilchrist parking lot. Sale items can be donated May 1-3; rent a table for $5. Live Healthy Iowa achievements at UNI

In the 2014 Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Wellness Challenge, UNI participants lost 294 pounds and recorded 589,031 minutes of physical activity. Congratulations to Bill Henninger, individual leader in minutes of physical activity, and Bryan Van Donslear, individual leader in weight loss. Lynda Yates, Macquarie University, will discuss "Communication, Language & Preparing for the Workplace" from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m., April 28, in 115 SRL. Her talk will address issues faced by adult second-language learners in adapting to underlying expectations about how to talk at work, focusing on research in the childcare, teaching and medical professions.
