Graduating this December?  Check-in your traditions with CATS from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Maucker Union. By checking in your traditions, you will be invited to the Traditions Keeper Ceremony on Dec. 12. Any form of pictures or memorabilia you have are acceptable.

America Recycles Day Scavenger Hunt

Join the RRTTC for a photo scavenger hunt at 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, through 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15. Participants will be emailed a list of clues highlighting UNI sustainability initiatives. The College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences has a new outreach program, ArtReach, a partnership with 220 East, an art incubator in downtown Waterloo. Matt Hoover, an Iowa native and top contestant on "The Biggest Losers," will discuss his struggles with weight, how the choices we make affect our future, and the importance of a college education. This Reaching for Higher Ground event will take place at 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, at the CME.

Civil Rights icon Angela Davis to visit UNI

Angela Davis, civil and women's rights icon, will lecture on "Finding Your Way: Organizing for Social Change and Human Rights" at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, at the GBPAC. Davis is also the keynote speaker for the Annual Conference on Human Rights on Friday, Nov. 8. For more information, contact Michael Blackwell at 273-2250.

New policy review process

New and revised policies will be posted for public comment at the UNI policies site before moving to the Cabinet and Executive Management Team for approval. The Faculty & Staff International Travel Safety Policy and Student International Travel Safety Policy have been posted on the UNI Policies site for review by faculty, staff and students. They will be available for review until Nov. 15.

Important LAC advising announcement for spring 2013

The Liberal Arts Core Committee has approved an experimental course: HPELS 1059 Dimensions of Well-Being for 2 credit hours. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, including both lecture and lab components, students will satisfy the LAC Category 1D Personal Wellness requirement. Enrollment is limited. Legislative forum at UNI

There will be a legislative forum hosted by the Northern Iowa Student Government from 2 to 3:15 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, in Ballroom A, MAU. Local legislators will be in attendance to respond to questions from NISG, as well as questions from the audience in an open forum setting.

Volunteers will participate in various service projects for ASPIRE Therapeutic Riding Program and the Black Hawk County Conservation at local county parks(transportation provided) from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26. Free flu shots for students

Free flu shots will be available to all registered UNI students at a walk-in clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at the UNI Student Health Clinic. It takes about two weeks after a vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against the influenza virus. Majors in Minutes Oct. 22

Majors in Minutes, an opportunity for students to learn more about the various majors on campus, will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Ballroom, MAU. Similar to speed dating, students have seven minutes to visit with upperclassmen. Diversity grants are awarded by the Diversity Council to UNI projects and events that enhance awareness of and education about issues of diversity at UNI. Adobe home-use program - students, faculty and staff

Faculty and staff may purchase the entire Adobe Cloud or just Acrobat Pro separately. ITS recommends purchasing the entire Adobe Cloud as Acrobat Pro is included in the Cloud. Students only have the option to "subscribe" to the Adobe Cloud software for a recurring monthly charge. University Book & Supply is an authorized reseller for Adobe software for personal use. A valid UNI ID card is required for purchase.
