Diversity Inclusion lectures

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Byron Hurt will show two of his films in Lang Auditorium. "Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes," a documentary on gender roles in hip-hop and rap music will be shown at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11; "Soul Food Junkies," which explores the food and culture of the American South, will show at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12. Pi Sigma Epsilon Bags Bowl

Pi Sigma Epsilon will host Bags Bowl, a single-elimination bags tournament, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Nielsen Field House. The fee for a two-person team is $10. First place wins $100.  Register online or email  Haleigh for more information.

Personal/baby care items donation drive Jan. 27-31

The UNI United Way committee will collect personal care (shampoo, soap, deoderent, shaving items, etc.) and baby care (diapers, wipes, baby soaps, lotions, etc.) items Jan. 27 through 31 to benefit local nonprofit organizations. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations: COE main lobby, 2nd floor; 5 CBB; 027 GIL; Essentials in MAU; 010 RDC; and the Alumni House. Donations also will be accepted at the UNI men's basketball game on Jan. 29. To arrange for a pick up of donations, call Jess Betts at 273-3851.

Violent Incident Defense Strategies

UNI Police will host evening Violent Incident Defense Strategies (V.I.D.S.) training sessions starting Jan. 28, in 109 CME. V.I.D.S. training is designed to help individuals increase their decision-making ability and chances of survival during an active shooter or violent incident. Volunteers needed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event

The Service and Leadership Council is hosting a meal-packaging event on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Jan. 20, in Maucker Union. Sixth Annual Diversity Town Hall

The 6th Annual Diversity Town Hall will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Commons. A Diversity Fair will precede the event from 1:30 to 2 p.m., and the 2014 Diversity Matters awards will be presented at approximately 4:15 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Regina Dixon-Reeves, the faculty diversity/development specialist at the University of Chicago. Electronic W-2s were made available Jan. 10 for current employees previously electing to not have a paper W-2 mailed to them. Paper W-2s for all other employees should be mailed approximately Jan. 17. See the Business Operations-Payroll website for information on changing your election to view your W-2 online in the future.
