Title: Lowering Students Indebtness: Reversing the Upward Trend

Session description: Breaking away from national trends in student borrowing, the Unversity of Northern Iowa has seen its average student loan indebtness decrease by 10 percent over the past three years. The average undergraduate student now graduates, having borrowed, $2,500 less than in 2010. Learn how the Office of Student Financial Aid used financial literacy, personalized loan counseling, and the Feder TEACH grant program to educate students on the importance of borrowing responsibly. Participates will also learn about tools and resources that are available to assist in educating students.
