Professor

Gretta Berghammer teaches coursework in drama education and theatre for youth at the University of Northern Iowa.  In addition, she serves as the Artistic Director for the Sturgis Youth Theatre, a community based theatre providing class and production related experiences for students ages 4-16.

Leonard M. Curtis

Leonard Curtis
Associate Professor

Professor Curtis has worked as a guest artist and instructor at Coe College, Cornell College, Grinnell College, Indiana State University, and the University of Iowa. Professional credits include scenic artist appointments at Missouri Repertory Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri, and design appointments at the University of Iowa Summer Repertory Theatre, Iowa City, Iowa. In 2005, Backstage featured Professor Curtis among theatre artists contributing to important summer theatre training opportunities in the Midwest.

Jay Edelnant

Jay Edelnant
Professor

Dr. Edelnant teaches courses in theatre history, directing, and dramatic literature, directs and writes plays, and has served as Department Head, Director of Theatre, and Director of Graduate Studies. 

He has served as a consultant for various state, national, and international educational and arts agencies, and been a guest artist in Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas, Wyoming, Oregon, and Nebraska.  Dr. Edelnant has also been a Roy Carver Fellow, Sasakawa Fellow at the Japan Studies Institute, and has received the Regents Award for Faculty Excellence. 

Richard Glockner

Richard Glockner
Associate Professor

Professor Glockner co-founded and was Assistant Artistic Director of The Actor's Space Inc. in New York City (an off-off Broadway company and actor training program.) His credits as an actor include such soap operas as One Life to Live and The Doctors, numerous theatrical appearances in New York City, regional theatre, film and commercial work.

Cynthia Goatley

Cynthia Goatley
Professor

Dr. Goatley came to UNI in 1992 after teaching at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Prior to that time, she taught at a number of colleges and universities including: Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Trinity University in Texas, and the University of Houston.

Linda Grimm

Linda Grimm
Adjunct Instructor

Instructor Grimm's field of experience includes costume technology, tailoring,   and millinery. She has been guest costume designer and technical director for UNI Theatre productions. She has also done historical costume research, patterning, and construction for the open-air museum Old World Wisconsin and the Minnesota Historical Society.

Ron Koinzan

Instructor, Scenic Studio Technical Director

Ron Koinzan is beginning his fifth year at the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to moving to Iowa he served as the Technical Director at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. This last summer was the 11th year he worked at Cabrillo Stage in Aptos, CA.

Tange Kole

Department Secretary

Tange joined the department in 2006. As its sole support person, she supplies the grease that helps keep the creative wheel turning.

Eric Lange

Eric Lange
Department Head/Associate Professor

Professor Lange came to UNI from Vanderbilt University in Nashville where he worked as Technical Director for three years. He has also worked in such venues as The Alley Theatre in Houston, The Dallas Theatre Center, the Philadelphia Academy of Music and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

Mark A. Parrott

Mark Parrott
Assistant Professor

For the past twelve years, Mark A. Parrott has worked as a designer and taught classes in theatrical design and production at the University of Northern Iowa, where he was recently promoted to Assistant Professor of Theatre. During his tenure at UNI, Mark has designed scenery for productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream, Antigone, La Serva Pedrona, Gianni Schicchi, The Threepenny Opera, and lighting for A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine, Three Sisters, and The Music Lesson, among others.

Amy S. RohrBerg

Amy RohrBerg
Associate Professor, Costume Studio Technical Director

Professor RohrBerg's work as a costume designer has included engagements at Timber Lake Playhouse in Illinois; The Barn Theatre of Augusta, Michigan; Peoria Civic Opera in Illinois; and The Old Creamery Theatre in Iowa. She is an active member of USITT and her specialties include mask making, Kabuki Theatre, and millinery.

Jennifer Sheshko

Assistant Professor

New to UNI, Jennifer Sheshko is originally from Montreal, Quebec and received her MFA in Costume Design from Indiana University at Bloomington. Her scenic and costume design credits include Quills (MECCA nomination 2008 for best costume design), Fallen Angel Productions; The Elusive, Table d’Hote Productions; Anything Goes and Marat-Sade, Indiana University.

Steve Taft

Steve Taft
Associate Professor

Steve has previously served UNI as Head of the Department of Theatre, as Director of Education and Special Projects for the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, and most recently as Acting Head of the Department of Art.

Matthew James Weedman

Assistant Professor

Matthew Weedman received his MFA from the School of Theatre Film and Television at the University of California, Los Angeles. He worked extensively in film and television and as an actor and director in theatres around the US. Matt is a Certified Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework®.
