Why is this Happening to Me?
The Best Cure for Writer’s Anxiety, Writer’s Block, and
Procrastination: Planning
- Get organized: Assemble ALL of your resources—assignment guidelines, questions you need to ask your instructor, reference
material, etc.
- Think about what you will do and why (to what end? to achieve what purpose? for what audience?)
- Commit your plan to paper. Make lists or outlines, do clustering (mapping), or do some free-writing to dump out potentially-useful thoughts. These are all low-stress ways to make something happen. The purpose is not to meet high standards of quality, but only to get something down on paper and make PROGRESS toward your goal.
REMEMBER, SMALL STEPS BUILD LARGE PROJECTS.
SOME part of a project can be completed EVERY DAY.
