She began to stitch a Show Way, a quilt with secret meanings to show enslaved people the way to freedom. As each generation passes, the Show Way shines a light on the past and paves a road to the future, stitching together possibility and promise.

Under the direction of UNI percussion faculty Matthew Andreini, and Josh Graham, the UNI Percussion and West African Drum Ensembles will offer their spring concert along with UNI’s Taiko drum ensemble Kaji-Daiko and the UNI Marimba Ensemble. This event is free and open to the public.

Friday, April 12, 2024 - 9:00 am

Faculty artist and conductor John Wiles will coordinate this interactive event, featuring treble-voiced chorus ensembles and members from Iowa high schools, as well as UNI’s own Cecilians. The event will culminate in an evening concert at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public, but the festival does require registration. Experience live music illuminated by candlelight during these intimate, one of a kind experiences that showcase local artists from a variety of genres.
