This showcase features talented student finalists competing for the title of Instrumental Concerto Competition winner, and the opportunity to perform as soloist with a premiere School of Music large ensemble in the spring. This event is free and open to the public. 

Tuesday, November 1, 2016 - 6:00 pm

Visiting artists Markus Burger and Jan von Klewitz will present a recital. Renowned German jazz instrumentalists Burger and von Klewitz blend modern improvisation with the art of interpreting baroque music, while remaining true to its original musical integrity. UNI School of Music faculty artist Amanda McCandless will present a clarinet recital with collaborators and repertoire to be announced. This event is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of UNI School of Music faculty artists and conductors John Len Wiles and Amy Kotsonis, the UNI Concert Chorale and UNI Singers will collaborate to offer a fall choral music concert. This event is ticketed. For tickets, call (319) 273-4TIX.

Visiting artist Anibal Dos Santos will present a viola recital. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Dos Santos has appeared as the principal violist of the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra and professor at the National University of Colombia. This is event is free and open to the public.

Friday, November 4, 2016 - 6:00 pm

Under the direction of faculty artist and conductor John Len Wiles, the UNI Cantorei will present a fall concert. This event is free and open to the public. 

Friday, November 4, 2016 - 7:30 pm

UNI Jazz Band One, under the direction of Christopher Merz will offer a fall concert with repertoire and soloists to be announced. This event is free and open to the public.

Visiting artist Daniel Sheridan will present a clarinet recital. Clarinetist Daniel Sheridan enjoys a multifaceted career as a solo recitalist, orchestral and chamber musician, and music educator. He holds degrees in Music Education and Clarinet Performance from Oklahoma State University, The University of Akron and The State University of New York at Stony Brook. Sheridan currently serves on the faculty at Winona State University. This event is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of UNI School of Music professor of piano Dmitri Vorobiev, UNI piano studio students will offer a fall concert. This event is free and open to the public.
