School of Music professor Cayla Bellamy will coordinate a student recital from the bassoon studio at UNI. This event is free and open to the public. 

Tuesday, April 19, 2016 - 7:30 pm

The UNI Singers, under the direction of faculty artist Amy Kotsonis, will present a spring concert. The UNI Singers is a large, mixed-voice choir featuring student musicians from many majors at UNI. Faculty artist Anthony Williams will coordinate the spring UNI Trombone Studio recital featuring solo and small ensemble performances. This event is free and open to the public.

School of Music professor Ann Bradfield will coordinate a student recital from the saxophone studio at UNI. This event is free and open to the public

Under the direction of UNI School of Music professor of clarinet Amanda McCandless, the UNI Clarinet Studio and Ensemble will offer a spring concert. This event is free and open to the public.

Thursday, April 21, 2016 - 8:00 pm

Coordinated by professor of composition and theory Jonathan Schwabe, UNI School of Music student composers will showcase their work in this spring recital. This event is free and open to the public.

Friday, April 22, 2016 (All day)

Led by conductor and professor Rebecca Burkhardt, this day-long event will host Iowa high school students in a hands-on, interactive orchestra invitational. For more information, contact Rebecca.Burkhardt@uni.edu

Under the direction of faculty artist Mitra Sadeghpour, UNI Opera will present a showcase of scenes performances. This event is free and open to the public.

The UNI Percussion Studio will celebrate a 50th anniversary reunion. Activities will include receptions, rehearsals, and social time concluding with a concert Sunday afternoon featuring Alumni West African Drum Ensemble, Taiko Drum Ensemble, Percussion/Marimba Ensembles and more. Faculty artist and conductor Amy Kotsonis will coordinate this interactive event, featuring women’s chorus ensembles from Iowa high schools, as well as UNI’s own Women’s Chorus. The event will culminate in an evening concert at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public, but the festival does require registration. Under the direction of UNI percussion faculty Randy Hogancamp and Matthew Andreini, the UNI Percussion and West African Drum Ensembles will offer their final spring concert along with UNI’s Taiko drum ensemble Kaji-Daiko and the UNI Marimba Ensemble. This event is free and open to the public.

Corey Mackey is the Principal Clarinetist for the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and Lecturer of Clarinet at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he teaches applied clarinet lessons, chamber music, upper level written and aural theory, and serves as the Chamber Music Coordinator.  He is a founding member of the Driftless Winds reed trio, and has performed and recorded with numerous ensembles. Remember, we saw her first! Singer Emily West, who charmed TV viewers as a finalist in 2014’s America’s Got Talent, returns to her hometown to perform for her biggest fans! Emily has performed all over the United States, beginning in Nashville, and even landed on the US Country Billboard for her song “Blue Skies,” a duet with Keith Urban. Her latest album, produced by Sony Music Masterworks, is slated for release in August 2015. Give Emily a warm welcome as she begins her national tour.

Saturday, April 30, 2016 - 6:00 pm

The UNI Suzuki School will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a special event performance titled “Reaching for the Stars!” The concert will feature current students and faculty, special guests and alumni. The New Horizons Band will offer its spring concert. Under the direction of Diana Blake, the New Horizons Band features musicians 55 and older who travel from all over Iowa. This event is free and open to the public.
