The Maid Narratives: Black Domestics and White Families in the Jim Crow South
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 10/16/2012 - 5:37pmWaterloo Women of the Great Migration who worked in domestic service in Mississippi and other Deep South states share memories of life under the harsh conditions of segregation. These are stories of daily cruelties, but also of resilience and finally of resistance. Their stories have been memorialized in "The Maid Narratives: Black Domestics and White Families in the Jim Crow South," recently published by LSU Press. Facilitated by Charletta Sudduth and Katherine van Wormer.
