Art Exhibit: "Other"

Department of Art Purchases and Recent Acquisitions from the UNI Permanent Art Collection co-curated by Dr. Charles M. Adelman and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor. This exhibition features works by Byron Burford, Thaddeus Erdahl, George Longfish, Maggie Taylor, and Peter Voulkos. Students from Dr. Adelman’s “Research Methods and Writing in Art History” class will present didactic materials for each object.

Public Lecture: Ned Dodington

Founder and Director of AnimalArchitecture.org. The speaker will present a public lecture tilted "How to Design With Biology: Towards a Biosynthetic Design Practice" KAB room 111. An opening reception for the speaker and the exhibition "Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention" will follow.

Art Exhibit: "Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention"

This exhibition is a traveling contemporary art exhibition curated by Randy Jayne Rosenberg, Executive Director of Art Works For Change, Inc. with generous support from The Nathan Cummings Foundation; the National Endowment for the Arts; The Adobe Foundation; and the Sprint Foundation. At UNI, this presentation is made possible by the UNI College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences. In addition, Ned Dodington, Founder and Director of AnimalArchitecture.org, will present a public lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday., Sept. 4, in KAB room 111. An opening reception for the speaker and the exhibition will follow. Other lectures associated with this programming may be viewed on the Gallery website calendar. All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mon. - Thurs.; noon to 5 p.m., Fri. and Sat.; and by appointment. The Gallery will be closed Sept. 1 for Labor Day.

Elevator Pitch Workshop

Learn how to craft a winning elevator pitch by attending this workshop. Attendance of this workshop qualifies students to enter UNI's Sixth Annual Elevator Pitch Competition which will be held later in September. Winner of the competition automatically advances to national competition Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Orlando, FL. Potential winnings are $2500.

"Controversial Issues" Workshop

This workshop provides a specific NCBI approach for effectively working through interpersonal, group, organizational, or social disagreements or conflicts; teaches useful skills for addressing potentially divisive situations that can move everyone forward; highly interactive as trained facilitators walk the group through a structured process on a current point of disagreement among the group members; participants learn to articulate their perspective in ways others can hear; to listen effectively to alternative positions; and to work toward common ground. Participants must be able to attend the full 4-hour workshop. Refreshments are provided. The workshop is facilitated by members of the UNI-National Coalition Building Institute. This is a campus-wide program to create a more welcoming community to which everyone wants to belong.

"Leadership for Diversity Inclusion" Workshop
