UNI Flute Day featuring guest artist Greg Pattillo

UNI School of Music faculty artist Angelieta Floyd will coordinate this hands-on event, featuring a 10:30 a.m. master class presented by guest artist Greg Pattillo, flute. Greg Pattillo is recognized throughout the world for his redefinition of flute sound. Greg was lauded by The New York Times as “the best person in the world at what he does.” His groundbreaking performance videos on Youtube, showcasing “beatbox flute”, have been viewed more than 40 million times. Christopher Kirkpatrick, clarinet

Visiting artist Christopher Kirkpatrick will present a clarinet recital. Christopher Kirkpatrick, Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the University of Montana, has given performances and master classes at universities throughout North America, and has maintained a private studio with students being accepted into many prestigious music programs across the country. As an orchestral musician he has performed with the Detroit Symphony, Lansing Symphony, West Michigan Symphony, Battle Creek Symphony, Brevard Music Center Orchestra, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Symphony and the Missoula Symphony. This event is free and open to the public. 

Carla Thelen Hanson, soprano & Ainhoa Urkijo, piano

Visiting artists Carla Thelen Hanson, soprano and Ainhoa Urkijo, piano will collaborate to present a recital. American soprano Carla Thelen Hanson is garnering attention for exciting and vocally thrilling performances of opera’s leading heroines throughout the country. Hanson will collaborate with Urkijo, a native of Bilbao, Spain, an internationally celebrated performer and educator. This is event is free and open to the public.  

Vocal Arts Festival

The UNI School of Music presents its annual Vocal Arts Festival for high school student vocalists preparing for All-State competition and interested in vocal music at UNI. A concert will be held on Monday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Hall, GBPAC. This event does require registration. For more information, please contact John.Wiles@uni.edu
