The theme of the Fourth Annual African-American Children and Families Conference is "A Chorus of Voices: Connecting the Community through Conversation." There will be a pre-conference panel discussion, African American Males and Females: A Journey to Success, Thursday, Feb. 19, 5-9 p.m. The conference begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, with keynote speakers Patricia Russell-McCloud and Theodora Phea Pinnock. The conference is designed for educators, administrators, childcare providers, law enforcement, policy makers, social workers, health professionals, business leaders and anyone committed to improving the lives of children. The goal is to promote a better understanding of culture, ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status and the needs of African-American children and families. There is no cost for UNI students and faculty.
