Lecture: How the Brain Lies and Misrepresents the "Real World"

Otto MacLin, department of psychology, will discuss how  the brain causes misperceptions, including errors in eye-witness identification. MacLin provides workshops for jurors and because of research across the country like his, the New Jersey Supreme Court last fall, acknowledging a “troubling lack of reliability in eyewitness identifications,” issued sweeping new rules for such evidence in criminal cases.
