People from the Cedar Valley will gather to address issues facing Iowa women and how to help take action in the state.
The Master of Social Work Student Association is hosting guest speaker Alyson Beytien, behavior apecialist for the Mercy Autism Center in Dubuque.. She will present “What do I do TOMORROW? Five Keys to Supporting a Child with Autism." The challenges of supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder are many and the amount of research and interventions currently available can be overwhelming. This presentation focuses on what everyone --- parents, teachers, extended family and support personnel – can do each day to ensure success for the child and all involved. This presentation is full of humor, reality and practical ideas. Q & A follows if time allows; refreshments provided.
The UNI CAB Film Committee will be showing the Disney movie "Frozen" on Thursday, March 13th. The show times are at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm and as always popcorn and pop will be provided.

Gamma Phi Beta will host a pancake breakfast with proceeds going to Girls on the Run. Tickets with be sold in advance the week before in Maucker Union for $5; $7 at the door day of the event.
The Out of the Darkness Walk will increase awareness about depression and suicide. Funds raised will support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s research efforts and educational programs. The three mile walk will bring together people who have lost loved ones to suicide or know someone struggling with depression.
UNI Colleges Against Cancer holds the Relay For Life of UNI each year. All proceeds raised go directly to the American Cancer Society. There will be lots of fun activities, free food and live bands. Check out our facebook page, UNI Colleges Against Cancer for even more dates of upcoming events.
UNI student volunteers will help plant 2,000 trees in Gateway Park for the Cedar Falls Parks Department. Registration is required.
Collecting donations for local charities. We accept any items delivered to us in the Union on Wednesdays, March 26th, April 2nd, April 9th, and April 16th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and also give you an opportunity to get rid of larger items with one of the charities. Alpha Xi Delta is hosting the Xi Man Competition, a male pageant held to raise money for Autism Speaks. The participants perform a group dance, formal wear with an interview, make a UNI cheer and perform a talent of their choice.
QUASH is the Quest to Unravel Alzheimer's Scavenger Hunt. It is a mental and physical competition for a great cause. Teams of two to four participants have an hour and a half to complete a scavenger hunt around campus and surrounding areas. Proceeds will benefit the Alzheimers Association's mission of a world without Alzheimers Disease through care and support for Alzheimers patients and their families as well as research efforts in the United States.
