Grants are great resources for you to help with college expenses. Grants are "gift aid" (no payment required) generally awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need based on filing the FAFSA.
More than 600 teaching majors taking advantage of the Federal TEACH Grant Program designed for students planning to teach in a high-need field. UNI has actively participated in the Federal TEACH Grant Program since its inception five years ago. At the national level, UNI is the number four public university in administering the TEACH Grant. In FY14, Grant recipients, totaling $1.7 million awarded. The TEACH Grant provides up to $4,000 for a total of $16,000 to an undergraduate.

Requirements: Must be an Iowa Resident; New graduate from Iowa high school; Financial need 0-1000 EFC on FAFSA throughout four years for continued eligibility

Applying for scholarships at UNI is easy. The UNI Scholarship Application allows students to apply for over 1,000 scholarships across campus online. The UNI Scholarship Application becomes available the summer before your senior year, in July.
The deadline for most UNI scholarships is January 15, unless otherwise noted.
- Complete the UNI Scholarship Application at www.uni.edu/finaid/scholarship.
- Review any information already filled in and complete the involvement section.
- Complete essays for as many different academic areas as you are interested.
- Scholarships are available by majors and departments even if you’re still deciding.
- Review and click submit. You will receive an email confirmation after successful submission.
- Don't forget to submit the UNI Scholarship Application every year!
The UNI Scholarship Applications can be updated (prior to the deadline) as frequently as you like.
