In summer 2019, UNI CIEP instructors will partner with Waterloo West High School for a one-of-a-kind program that will incorporate English instruction and information on post-high school career and educational opportunities. High school seniors at Waterloo West who are learning English as a foreign language are eligible for the program. In addition to sixteen hours of English instruction per week, students will participate in a variety of activities that will expose them to academic college life as well as exploring future career opportunities. The four-week program, which starts on June 17 and ends on July 12, includes weekly themes on topics specific to recent high school graduates: educational & career goals, social engagement & college life, mental & physical health, and professional communication. Upon completion, students will receive an English elective credit, a waiver for the UNI application fee, and a stipend towards the cost of UNI orientation and registration.
