TEACHING 5133 WKSP: Connecting Your Students Online -- 1 unit(s)

This workshop will cover free web applications available to educators to use in connecting with their students and connecting their students with each other. One day will be spent learning about Edmodo. Edmodo is a free and safe way for students and teachers to connect and collaborate. Edmodo is designed to get students excited about learning in a familiar environment. On Edmodo, teachers can continue classroom discussions online, give polls to check for student understanding, and award badges to individual students based on performance or behavior. Edmodo makes it simple to track student progress as well. All grades and badges assigned through Edmodo are stored and easily accessible. A second day will focus on identifying free, Web 2.0 Applications that can be used for collaboration. Skype, Google, Dropbox, and Prezi are some of the sites that will be discussed.
