Dr. Leslie Williams is the Dean of Students. She assists students and families in times of crisis or concern, provides assistance to faculty in managing issues, administers the Student Conduct Code and oversees Student Disability Services, the LGBT* Center, Student Assistance Outreach, Military and Veteran Services, and Student Wellness Services.

Kristin coordinates retention and student success initiatives, including peer mentoring, the MAP-Works early intervention program, and success coaching for first-year students. She collaborates with faculty members on the implementation of First-Year Only (FYO) course communities, provides individual assistance to at-risk students, and co-chairs at the university's Transfer Council. Kristin also works with campus partners to facilitate the Jump Start extended orientation program, Transfer Welcome events, and Family Weekend.

As the Disability Specialist for Student Disability Services, Jenny assists students by determining eligibility for accommodations, providing challenge and support through the office's Weekly Mentoring program, overseeing the conversion of course material into accessible format, and offering assistive technology resources and outreach events.

As the Department Secretary for Student Disability Services, Karen is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the office including; ordering supplies, managing the office flow of students, faculty, staff and community, processing Reader and Scribe request for exams and reconciling the SDS budget. 

 

 

Student Disability Services Graduate Assistant

The graduate assistant with Student Disability Services works primarily one-on-one with clients enrolled in the Weekly Mentoring Program to assist with development of time management, organizational, prioritization and goal setting skills. They also create the newsletters, assist in administration of academic accommodations, and organize educational outreach events.

Norman supports military members, veterans, and their families at UNI as they transition between military duty, college, and new careers. He is committed to faculty and staff education, on and off campus, resource networking, advocacy, and listening to each student to ensure that each military affiliated students' voices is heard and they are empowered to achieve success in class and beyond.

 

 

LGBT* Center Graduate Assistant

The graduate assistant for the LGBT* Center serves as a resource to LGBTQ+ students and their allies as the main point of contact for the LGBT* Center. This GA manages and maintains the Safe Zone program, coordinates the Center's annual events, including Lavender Graduation and Rainbow Reception, and works with students one on on.

Nicole serves as a Student Conduct Administrator by performing student conduct hearings and determining appropriate sanctions. She assists in the development and implementation of new student orientation programs and other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Dean of Students, Coordinator of New Students Programs, or Coordinator of Student Assistance and Outreach.
