Help fund your future

There is no doubt that a college education is a considerable investment. The University Honors Program wants to help you find ways to make the investment in your future more manageable. Some awards provide general scholarship support while other funds offset costs associated with engaged learning opportunities like research and travel.  

Prospective Student Awards

Presidential Scholarships

Presidential Scholarships are awarded by the University Honors Program to high school seniors with a history of outstanding academic performance. Recipients will be those whose strong academic credentials are matched by personal involvement in leadership and service activities.

Honors Transfer Scholarship

Transfer students qualified for the University Honors Program will be considered for an Honors Transfer Scholarship of up to $3,000. The scholarship is renewable for an additional year with a 3.30+ cumulative GPA and active student status in the University Honors Program. A limited number of scholarships are available; complete the UNI Scholarship Application by March 1. 

Current Student Awards

Boatwright Undergraduate Research Grant

This scholarship provides funding to students in the University Honors Program who are completing the Honors Thesis or other qualifying undergraduate research projects. Funding is awarded to offset research expenses or to provide support for attendance, participation in or presentations at an academic conference. Grant funds available to all majors.

Honors Alumni Scholarship

The Honors Alumni Scholarship is supported through an endowment fund created by generous alumni of the University Honors Program. Candidates for this scholarship are currently enrolled honors students who have actively contributed to the life of the Honors Program and are in good standing with the GPA and active student policies. The Honors Alumni Scholarship is a $1,600 award with the potential for renewal. 

Jason Kilborn Study Abroad Scholarship

This scholarship provides funding (up to $500) for Honors Program students enrolled in an approved UNI study abroad program. Students must be considered to be in good standing with the Honors Program. Preference is given to students who are Presidential Scholars.

Michael R. Armbrecht Endowed Honors Scholar Scholarship

This scholarship, sponsored by a UNI Business alum, provides generous support for tuition, fees and personal expenses for an Honors student with demonstrated financial need. The recipient will also show great promise for career success, as reflected through his/her leadership activities on campus. Preference given to a student with a major in business. The scholarship is renewable with a 3.30+ cumulative GPA and active status in the University Honors Program.

Nadyne Harris Scholarship for Honors Research

This scholarship provides funding to students in the University Honors Program majoring in CHAS or CSBS who are completing the Honors Thesis. Funding is awarded to offset costs related to the Thesis, such as supplies, specialized software, photocopying, printing, mailing, photography and travel to research sites. 

Nadyne Harris Scholarship for Honors Travel

This scholarship provides funding (up to $500) to students in the University Honors Program majoring in CHAS or CSBS who are traveling for academic purposes. Examples of academic travel include National Student Exchange and any variety of study abroad programs. The travel must result in earned academic credit accepted by UNI and designated for Honors credit by the University Honors Program.
