The University of Northern Iowa’s Department of Technology is recognized as a premier applied engineering program. Students interested in applied engineering and manufacturing may excel in the areas of manufacturing, construction, graphic communications, teaching and electronics. Students gain technical skills through hands-on application in our interactive labs. The department houses the only graphics production lab, Metal Casting Center and Technology and Engineering Education programs in the state of Iowa. Students may continue their education into a master of science in technology and doctorate of industrial technology.

TRANSFER TIP

  • More than 400 A.A.S. degrees from Iowa community colleges articulated into departmental majors

  • Students may transfer career and technical credits into programs

  • Work directly with a UNI advisor to assist in creating a transfer plan

  • Maximum 65 semester hours of liberal arts and/or career and technical credits

  • Advantageous to transfer an A.S. degree

  • Bachelor of Arts in technology management available online for students possessing an A.A.S. degree
