How Long Have You Worked in the Office of the Registrar? 4 Years
What do you enjoy most about working in the office? The ability to answer questions that often seem immensely confusing. I also enjoy making connections campus-wide about a topic that every student is effected by, i.e.: registration, graduation, and so on.
What would you like others to know about the Office of the Registrar that they may not already know? The Registrar's Office does many things to assist students throughout their career here at UNI though they may not know it. A prime example would be commencement each Fall and Spring semester. Our office hosts commencement and orchestrates directions between many different offices and organizations to make sure the day is special for each student.
What do you believe to be the most valuable thing you have learned from working and studying at UNI? I suppose I cannot pin my experience here down to just one. I could say that I have learned two major things that seem to have impacted me in many ways. One, though grades are an important element to success as a student, the friendships and connections a person makes while in an academic environment have an extremely far reaching influence and more personal value. Two, the best environments in which to learn, work, and grow aren't those that are extremely homogeneous, but rather those that are relatively heterogeneous. It's in these environments that our thoughts and beliefs are challenged. Only once we are truly challenged in our ideals can we grow more confident in them and as a person.
What has been the most memorable part of your college experience so far? The most memorable part of my college career, thus far, has been my semester living and studying abroad in Scotland.
What are your future plans after Graduation? Where do you see yourself in ten years? I plan to substitute teach for the Spring of 2014 and then move on to a full-time teaching position. I cannot wait to teach and help to shape the lives of my students. In ten years, I really hope to have finished my Master’s degree and moved into a more administrative role as a Principal.
