Marcus Weymiller didn’t know where he was going to college until two days before Signing Day. But it didn’t take long for the former walk-on from Waukon -- whose performance on the gridiron would eventually earn him a scholarship -- to feel that he belonged at UNI.

Visiting ceramic sculptor Susan Beiner

Susan Beiner, Arizona State University, will be a visiting artist in the art department Thursday and Friday, Oct. 18-19. She will demonstrate how she creates her artwork from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4:45 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in 126 KAB, and lecture about her artwork at 7 p.m., in 111 KAB. Victoria Hurst, public administration and political science, was honored recently as the Young Woman of Tomorrow by the YWCA during its 2015 Cedar Valley Women of Persimmon Awards luncheon.

The UNI American Advertising Federation placed first at the District 9 National Student Advertising Competition. The 16 winning district teams across the country will now compete in a semi-final round.

Olivia Mossman, a senior electronic media communications major, was named the Most Outstanding Intern by the American Advertising Federation Stickell Internship Advisory Board for her work last summer in New York City at global media agency Carat.

Molly Rome, a UNI senior majoring in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)/Spanish, has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to Argentina for an English Teaching Assistantship.
