University of Northern Iowa alumna Rachel Beck works to implement sustainability initiatives at Singlespeed Brewery.

During her last year at UNI, Rachel Beck ‘18 planned to pack her bags, move to North Carolina and become a yoga teacher after graduation. The environmental science major had finally — after a couple of years spent trying out several different majors — found a course of study she was passionate about. But she couldn’t see any job opportunities in the field that excited her as much as her studies.

Return keys to Facilities Management

Reminders to return building keys will be emailed daily beginning Friday, May 3. A $25 charge per key will be assessed for any keys not returned by Friday, May 10. Students working/needing access through the summer must submit an extension request. Extensions through May 1, 2020, are now being accepted. Deadline for library ambassador applications is May 1

The deadline to apply to be a library ambassador for 2019-20 is Wednesday, May 1. The program promotes the integration of the library into the campus community. Selected students will be part of library events such as UNI Now and Bash in the Stacks and attend campus events as library ambassador representatives.

Victoria Hurst, public administration and political science, was honored recently as the Young Woman of Tomorrow by the YWCA during its 2015 Cedar Valley Women of Persimmon Awards luncheon.

The UNI American Advertising Federation placed first at the District 9 National Student Advertising Competition. The 16 winning district teams across the country will now compete in a semi-final round.

Olivia Mossman, a senior electronic media communications major, was named the Most Outstanding Intern by the American Advertising Federation Stickell Internship Advisory Board for her work last summer in New York City at global media agency Carat.

Molly Rome, a UNI senior majoring in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)/Spanish, has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to Argentina for an English Teaching Assistantship.
