An update on digital scholarship and sharing and promoting your scholarly work online will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, in 282 LIB. 2017 Professional Development Conference - People, Purpose and Passion

The Annual Professional Development Fall Conference will be from 8 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Nov. 15. All students, staff and faculty are welcome. Share the Warmth: new and gently used clothing drive

The Study Abroad Center will host a winter clothing drive from Oct. 13 to Nov. 13. The goal is to show international students what "Iowa Nice" is all about and supply them with everything they might need to survive an Iowa winter. Recommended donations include scarves, gloves, mittens, stocking caps, winter jackets, boots, warm socks, sweaters, etc. Please drop off your donations at the Study Abroad Center, 028 GIL, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meet the President event

Professional and Scientific employees are invited to the annual 'Meet the Pres' event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the main lobby, GBPAC. New MyUNI mobile app available

The MyUNI mobile app has a new major update, available in both the Apple App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android. Among the new features are audience-based navigation, an improved interface and much more. It includes native versions for both smartphones and tablets.

Annual Student Military and Veterans Photo Exhibit

2017 Local Food Dinner

You are invited to the annual Northern Iowa Food and Farm Partnership Local Food Dinner at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the Slife Ballroom, COM. This event will include a locally sourced meal and guest speaker Chris Blanchard from Purple Pitchfork in Decorah. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased by Friday, Oct. 13. UNI's Civic Action Plan feedback requested

Last year a committee made up of faculty, staff, students and community members developed a Civic Action Plan (CAP) for UNI. The CAP will serve as the implementation plan for UNI's Strategic Plan, Goal #3 - Community Engagement. The Civic Action Planning Team invites you to learn more about the plan, review a draft of the plan and provide your feedback. Stomping Out the Stigma 5k

TWLOHA is sponsoring a 5k on Oct. 21 to help end stigmas surrounded by mental illness and to gain awareness of resources in the community. Race starts at 9 a.m.; check in at 8 a.m. Register on the race website. All profits go to mental health nonprofits in the Cedar Valley.

Register for Safe Zone Ally training

Spaces are still available for fall Safe Zone Ally training sessions. The 1.5 hour Phase One training sessions are at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 26 and at noon, Thursday, Nov. 9. The two-hour Phase Two training sessions are at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, and at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 14. Register in advance on the LGBT* Center website.

Andrew Morse named Assistant to the President for Board and Governmental Relations

Andrew Morse has been named as Assistant to the President for Board and Governmental Relations. Morse will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for university and BOR interactions and serving as university coordinator for communication with the BOR office. He also will direct communications for the Office of the President and work with congressional delegations and their staffs and federal agencies. His official start date at UNI was Oct. 10.

Security awareness: information security is our responsibility

According to a 2016 Raytheon survey, 86 percent of young adults think that keeping the Internet safe and secure is a responsibility we all share — up 4 points from 82 percent in 2015. Tips for security include protecting your device, using strong passwords or passphrases, enabling multifactor authentication, checking your social media settings, educating yourself and getting trained. Become a Yoga instructor

Yoga instructors are wanted. This informative workshop gives you the tools to create Vinyasa Yoga classes. Training will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 14 and 15. Fee is $150; open to the public. More information is on the Recreation Services website.

Check out the littlest Panthers showing their UNI pride!

The UNI Child Development Center will have a mini parade around campus at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 6, by the library and heading toward SEC. CDC staff and children (3 months to 6 years old) will parade in their UNI purple, Panther pride capes and have light sabers to support the Homecoming theme.
